FAQ’s

  • Yes! I do accept insurance and am in network with most major plans such as Cigna, United, Anthem, and Blue Cross Blue Shield. At this time, I currently do not accept Medicaid. If you do not have insurance and want to pay out of pocket, the cost is $185 for the initial intake assessment. After the initial sixty-minute intake, sessions are $165/hr.

  • Yes! Balance and Boundaries is a virtual only psychotherapy practice. I offer walk and talk therapy, retreats, and medicine ceremonies in person.

  • The first therapy session involves me asking open-ended questions to get a full picture of you. This includes the paperwork you completed prior to our intake, your lived experiences, current issues, past therapy experiences (if any), support systems, and goals for therapy. Should you feel uncomfortable with any questions I ask, let me know. You are not obligated to answer anything you don’t want to! We will move at a pace that feels best to you and your nervous system.

  • Therapy sessions typically range between 55-60 minutes. Typically, I like to begin meeting with clients once a week to deepen our relationship. If symptoms are not severely impacting your life on a daily basis, I suggest moving to bi-weekly sessions. Sessions are dependent on your personal preference, availability, insurance coverage, finances, therapeutic goals, and symptom severity.

  • Trauma-informed therapy is a type of care within the mental health field that takes a root cause, whole-person approach rather than surface level presenting concerns. The goal of trauma-focused therapy is to provide clients with a sense of safety, autonomy, collaboration, and trustworthiness.

  • Walk and talk therapy is a form of psychotherapy that involves the client and clinician meeting in a natural setting (such as a park or trailhead) instead of meeting via telehealth. This form of therapy assists clients in utilizing both their mind and body while processing deep emotions.

  • Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) is a holistic modality in which ketamine is used to complement psychotherapy and help eligible clients experience more frequent breakthroughs and sustained improvement in symptoms.

  • Journey Clinical offers insurance coverage for the medical appointments and also provides superbills for out-of-network reimbursement. Some patients get 70-80% of their costs covered. Check out this FAQ page: https://journeyclinical.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/28002696219028-Insurance-FAQs

  • BIPOC stands for Black, Indigenous, People of Color. BIPOC psychotherapy addresses the unique needs of individuals from diverse racial and multicultural backgrounds. This modality accounts for systemic issues, microaggressions, and macroaggressions people of color experience on a daily basis.
